Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.

Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
